About

Elizabeth Backman is a Canadian artist whose creative journey began in Montreal and now continues on the West Coast in Langley, BC. Her professional roots in fashion design and a successful clothing manufacturing business shaped her keen eye for colour, line, and composition. Years of travel to her New York showroom—and across Europe—further refined her aesthetic and deepened her appreciation for art, architecture, and design.

Since relocating to British Columbia, Elizabeth has drawn inspiration from the natural beauty of the West Coast. Working primarily in oils, she explores themes grounded in nature: forests, water, wildflowers, and the quiet serenity found in the outdoors. Her goal is to reflect a sense of tranquility and beauty in her work—offering both personal fulfillment and a moment of calm for the viewer.

Elizabeth is an exhibiting member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, including the Fraser Valley Chapter. She is also active in the Garibaldi Art Club in Maple Ridge and the South Delta Artists Guild. Her work is shown regularly in regional gallery exhibitions.
